After a weekend of heavy rain, the Greater Manchester region is braced for more wet weather tonight.

Outbreaks of heavy rain will reach the region during this afternoon’s rush hour, and says the Met Office the rain will linger for many tonight and will be heavy at times, especially over the hills and winds will strengthen.

Tomorrow showery outbreaks of rain will continue throughout the morning, heavy at times. The rain will ease during the afternoon.

There are at the moment no flood warnings still covering parts of the region.

Meanwhile the remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo are approaching Britain, but the storm has slipped back to Category 4, after several hours as a Category 5, which made it the strongest storm observed so far north and east in the Atlantic basin.

The worst of the weather from the hurricane is expected to hit the UK on Wednesday and Thursday.
