Local politicians have criticised the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who has reportedly been holding a party at the country retreat of Chequers missing a Cobra meeting called to deal with the impending heat wave

Angela Rayner tweeted in response to the reports

“Grotesque.Skipping COBRA. Missing in action. Partying while Britain boils.
This zombie Tory Government is unfit for office.”

adding

“If he still can’t take the responsibility of the job, he should leave right now.”

While Andy Burnham tweeted:
