U.S. president Donald Trump said that after negotiations, Americans decided to pause the war for 5 days.
“I have ordered any military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure to be postponed,” the U.S. president wrote on social media.
Trump has told reporters that the latest round of talks with Iran took place last night.
According to him, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were involved, and a deal with Iran could be reached within five days — or even sooner.
But Tehran flatly denies any talks. Iran’s Foreign Ministry says there are no negotiations at all and claims Trump’s statements are an attempt to lower energy prices and buy time for military plans.
“We were not the side that started this war, and all such requests should be addressed to Washington,” the ministry added.
At home Kier Starmer says the government is looking at how to keep household energy costs at a reasonable level for six months from July but stressed that Britain might not be able to spend as much as it did last time there was an energy price spike.
