What is being described as an ongoing incident by police is disrupting tram services across the City Centre

Metrolink first reported the incident at Piccadilly station around 7.00am this morning

“Due to a police incident, we are unable to operate through Piccadilly Station.

⚠️ The Ashton Line is suspended. Bury Line services will operate to Deansgate-Castlefield, Altrincham Line to Victoria and Weaste to Crumpsall.”

Services are now running on all lines days the operator

“We are currently experiencing delays on the Ashton line. Tickets & passes are being accepted on the 7, 76, 76a 171, 172, 216, 219, 230, 231 bus services.”

In a statement GMP said

“GMP alongside partners were called to an incident close to Manchester Piccadilly Rail Station this morning (Sunday 10 September 2023).To ensure the safety of everyone involved, road closures were put in place which temporarily affected public transport services as well as road users.

The incident has now been brought to a safe conclusion with cordons lifted.

Thank you to everyone for their patience.”
