Head to pop-up wood, Merseywoods, this spring at Merseyway in Stockport and enjoy a whole host of free activities the whole family can enjoy.
Filled with trees, plants, and picnic tables, alongside a bespoke wooden story-time chair and musical instruments, Merseywoods has been created using a range of sustainable materials and will play host to lots of free, family-friendly activities including craft and sustainability workshops until April 2022.
Created in collaboration with City Dressing and Merseyway-based community design studio and woodwork specialists, EasyPeel at Merseyway Workshop, Merseywoods forms part of Stockport Council’s programme of activities to support Covid recovery, funded as part of the Government’s Welcome Back Fund, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
Highlight events include;
Wildflower Workshop with Merseyway Workshop – Saturday 5th March
Take part in a free workshop with Merseyway Workshop and create your very own wildflower meadow. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled throughout the day, because Daffodil Stilt Walkers will also be roaming around the town centre too. Spaces are limited and tickets can be booked here .
Paper Mache Bird House Craft & Ebublio – Saturday 12th March
Families are invited to decorate their very own paper mache bird house whilst
enjoying interactive sessions with bubble experts, Ebublio. Event will take place
11am – 2.30pm.
Grown Your Own with Totally Stockport – Sunday 13th March
Visitors can take part in an exclusive sustainability workshop with Totally Stockport
and learn how to create their very own veg gardens.
Bug Hotel Workshop with Merseyway Workshop – Saturday 19th March
Families can get in touch with nature at this fun workshop with Merseyway Workshop, as participants learn how to build bug hotels, ready to take home to encourage creepy crawlies into their home gardens. Visitors can also enjoy exclusive performances by popular music entertainers, Pantonic Steel Orchestra, who will be performing steel music throughout the day.
Bulb Planting with Totally Stockport – Sunday 20th March
Get your hands in the soil with Totally Stockport and learn how to plant your own bulbs, ready to take home to your garden.
Mother’s Day in Merseywoods – Saturday 26th March
Create a beautiful paper flower bouquet just in time for Mother’s Day at Merseyway’s
fun craft session in Merseywoods. Families can also enjoy garden-themed
entertainment, including visits from Mr Flower Garden, Top Hat Hedges and larger
than life butterflies.
Wildflowers with Totally Stockport – Sunday 27th March
Plant the beginnings of your own wildflower meadow with Totally Stockport at Merseywoods – perfect for anyone who likes flowers.
Easter Fun with Milly & Hoppy – Saturday 16th April Meet Hop the Easter Bunny and his best friend Milly at Merseyway this Easter. Guaranteeing lots of Easter fun for the family, Hop and Milly will be singing and dancing around the town centre whilst providing visitors with chocolate treats.
