Award winning Canadian author and international bestseller Margaret Atwood will be appearing in Manchester this autumn as part of Manchester’s Literature Festival.

Margaret’s previous works include The Handmaid’s Tale, Cat’s Eye, The Blind Assassin and the MaddAddam trilogy.

She will be discussing her forthcoming novel The Heart Goes Last – a sinister satire set in a near future where the lawful are locked up and the lawless roam free. Young, poverty-stricken lovers Charmaine and Stan sign up for a social experiment but the promise of a suburban paradise soon turns into a nightmare of conformity, mistrust, guilt and sexual desire.

Margaret will be in conversation with broadcaster and critic Erica Wagner.
