Multi-talented Mancunian rap and grime legend JSD returns with his eagerly awaited second solo album Ask About Me; landing on all platforms from Sunday 22nd May, 2022,providing further proof that he’s one of the finest rappers and producers that the UK has to offer.

JSD returns with his eagerly awaited second solo album Ask About Me; available on all platforms from Sunday 22nd May, 2022, providing further proof that he’s one of the finest rappers and producers that the UK has to offer.

Ask About Me is a musical journey; a natural progression from JSD’s previous material. The production is world-class and, from the very start, it feels like a huge record. Big party tracks like No Time go straight for the jugular, hitting you hard and leading you into banger territory, while songs like Intro Spective and IDKUreach into your soul and pull at your heart strings with raw, honest lyrics as this master-at-work displays a level of vulnerability rarely achieved by his peers.

JSD is one of the original pioneers of Manchester’s rap and MC culture. From his early years with infamous UKG crew CBD (Causing Bare Drama), to his time with global rap and bass music giants Virus Syndicate, he has been at the forefront of the city’s rap scene for well over a decade

His career has taken in countless world tours, seeing him generate a huge global fan base while performing on stages at the likes of Glastonbury, Roskilde, Sonar, WMC Miami, Parklife, and WHP, with music featured in Hollywood movies including Criminal Activities starring John Travolta, high profile TV shows Skinsand HBO’s The Leftovers, and the simply massive Euphoria, as well as too many computer games to fit on the page.

Despite this success, JSD didn’t give the world a solo project until lockdown 2020 when he hit us with the outstanding 10-track debut album Late Nights & Wavey Lights, a powerful autobiographical tale of love, loss and lifestyle choices detailing the impact of losing both of his parents within 12 months and trying to raise a young family while spiralling into depression and substance abuse.

JSD not only has the ability to truly captivate the listener by painting pictures with words and giving vivid accounts of life’s ups and downs using expert lyricism alongside superbly controlled flow and delivery, but he also provides the canvas upon which he paints those pictures by producing, mixing and mastering all of his own music before releasing it via his independent label, Midication Recordings.

JSD says, “This album is a big level up from anything I’ve put out before. It’s a living and breathing tribute to my passion for the art of writing, producing and engineering. I know that sounds bare serious but honestly it’s just the real. I love music and love being able to paint pictures through the words I write and the beats I make; I’ve produced and mixed every single track on the project myself which allowed me ultimate creative control.

“I wanted to make something timeless. Something that connects with people on multiple levels. I strived to find a good balance between those honest, emotional and hard-hitting moments to the big bangers that just make you want to turn up and party. An equilibrium of emotions was important to me and I think I’ve made something that can stand up next to anyone else in the world. Ask About Me. From Manchester, with love.”

Founded by JSD and Nika D of Virus Syndicate in early 2012 as an outlet for their music, Midication Recordings has released music by Lady Leeshur, Paigey Cakey, Dope DOD, Son Of Kick (aka Born Dirty), Virus Syndicate and Dyno, to name a few.

Over the last decade the label has developed a core stable of Manchester artists as a result of JSD fully taking the Midication reins, producing and engineering for local talent and organically developing a talented roster into a family of some of the city’s best rappers and singers.

With a recording studio based between the City Centre and Cheetham Hill, JSD supports a thriving community of talented musicians; he co-writes, produces, mixes and masters for Midication artists, and has produced for renowned artists across the UK including Dibo Brown, Misha B, plus many more.
