2027 adidas Manchester Marathon has reached capacity in just 10 days, the quickest time it has ever sold out of public places.
All places were taken two months earlier than the previous edition, despite offering an increased number of spots, underlining continued demand for one of the UK’s most iconic marathons.
The sell-out follows another record-breaking year in 2026, where 42,000 participants took to the streets of Greater Manchester, cheered on by more than 150,000 spectators who lined the route from start to finish, transforming the course into a city-wide celebration. Manchester is the UK’s second largest marathon, and in Europe’s top five.
Whilst public entries have now sold out there is still a chance to be on the start line, with limited places available through the events Official Charities – Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, The Christie, Cancer Research UK and Mind – offering people the opportunity to take part while raising funds for a great causes.
The 2026 event raised a record £5.2 million with 2027 set to raise the bar once again. In addition, over £70,000 is expected to be pledged to local initiatives in 2026 through the Manchester Marathon Community Fund, which receives a portion of every entry fee to support projects across Greater Manchester.
With over 4 in 10 of 2027 participants taking on the 26.2-mile distance for the first time and 77% of 2026 participant saying they achieved a personal best time, the adidas Manchester Marathons flat course, packed with energy from huge crowds remains a favourite for all abilities.
Andrew Smith, CEO of adidas Manchester Marathon organisers A.S.O. UK, said: “Word gets around, and the adidas Manchester Marathon has become a true highlight in the running calendar, and the numbers back that up. We’re proud to welcome everyone to this event, from first-time challengers to experienced veterans and some of Europe’s top athletes. Thanks to everybody who is supporting this special event, and we can’t wait to bring even more benefits to Manchester and so many great causes.”
