A talented actor is making her TV debut in a new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice after graduating from Manchester Met’s Manchester School of Theatre only last month.
BA (Hons) Acting graduate Hopey Parish undertook a competitive audition process and was selected for the leading role of Mary Bennet after impressing the casting team with her broad and dynamic skillset and distinctive interpretation of the role.
Parish secured the audition after gaining agent representation following her performance in the Manchester School of Theatre’s BA (Hons) Acting Student Showcase in London last year, an event that highlights acting students to agents and industry professionals.
Production is currently underway in the UK for this latest adaption of the Jane Austen classic, written by author and screenwriter Dolly Alderton, and the six-part series will air on Netflix, with the date still to be confirmed.
Parish will utilise the valuable skills learned during her acting training at Manchester School of Theatre when she makes her debut alongside a star-studded cast including Olivia Coleman , Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden and Rufus Sewell .
Austen’s timeless 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice hasinspired many adaptations for film, TV and theatre and this latest iteration promises to stay true to the original text.
