A Manchester Labour Councillor has resigned from the party over its stance on the Israeli Palestinian crisis

Amna Abdullatif who represents Ardwick said in a statement released this afternoon that she joined Labour because its values of iustice and equality, reflected my own and it saddens me that I no longer feel that this is the case under the current leadership of this party.

“I am devastated to now have no choice other than to resign the Labour whip and resign from the Labour Party due to Keir Starmer and a number of his senior front bench making horrifying comments about Israel having the right to withhold fuel, water, food and electricity from the 2.2 million Palestinians trapped in Gaza, effectively endorsing a war crime.”

She will now stand as an independent candidate on Manchester City Council
