#A 28-week prison sentence has been handed down to a man in his late 20s whose behaviour in Manchester City Centre shocked and disgusted the community.
This man was convicted of a series of public order offences, including violence against women and girls and outraging public decency after performing a lewd and sexual act in a public park. His actions not only caused deep distress to victims but also raised serious safety concerns for those living, working, and visiting the city.
Alongside the prison sentence, the court imposed a 24-month Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). This order bans him from entering the city of Manchester for the next two years – a move aimed at protecting the public and preventing further harm.
City Centre police have welcomed the sentence, emphasising that this is a clear message: offensive, threatening, or indecent behaviour will not be tolerated.
Sergeant Jon Wyatt of the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Team, said:
“This individual’s actions were unacceptable. The sentence and CBO send a strong warning that we will take swift action to protect our communities – especially women and girls – from those who think they can intimidate or harm others.”
Residents are urged to report any breaches of the CBO or suspicious behaviour directly to GMP via 101, or 999 in an emergency. Anonymous reports can be made through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Public safety is everyone’s business – together, we can keep Manchester a safe and welcoming place for all.
