A new pizza restaurant, Fratelli, is set to open its doors at The Met, Market Street, Bury, BL9 0BW, marking an exciting new chapter for one of the town’s most iconic hospitality locations. Launching on 13th February.
The new venture will bring authentic NY-style pizza to Bury’s rapidly growing food and drink scene. Customers can enjoy classic flavours as well as an array of NY style sides such as fried chicken and mozzarella sticks. They also have a new lunchtime offering, taking inspiration from the folded pizza craze sweeping the UK, with their pizza sandos.
The restaurant occupies the former home of the much-loved Automatic restaurant, which served the community for more than 20 years. For two of the founders, the launch represents a deeply personal milestone, as they both worked at Automatic as teenagers, where they first developed their passion for hospitality. Their return to the site as business owners marks a true full-circle moment.
The team behind the new restaurant brings significant local hospitality experience as one of the founders is also the driving force behind several popular regional venues, including Holcombe Tap, Eagle & Child, and most recently the revitalisation of The Swan & Cemetery, all of which have earned strong reputations across Greater Manchester.
The business has already demonstrated strong demand and community support through a series of successful pop-ups over the past year. The team has built a loyal following by appearing at well-known local venues and events, including Makers Markets, Bury FC, Bury RUFC, The Paddock, and most recently a residency at the Eagle & Child in Ramsbottom.
Initially, the team had planned to host another pop-up in December. However, after viewing the available space at The Met, they recognised the opportunity to create something much bigger. The new permanent location allows them to realise their vision of bringing high-quality New York-style pizza to Bury while contributing to the town’s evolving food destination status.
The restaurant will join a growing collection of independent hospitality venues helping to shape Bury and the surrounding area into a vibrant food hub, alongside established and emerging favourites including Bloom, Wax and Bean, and the recently reopened The Clarence.
Sam James Co-Founder of Fratelli, said: “We’ve been working incredibly hard on Fratelli for over a year, building the business through pop-ups and getting our name and brand out there. Securing a permanent home in Bury is a huge milestone, and we are proud to be another independent business in our home town.”
The restaurant will be open Wednesday to Saturday, 12:00pm – 21:00pm, and Sundays 12:00pm-19:00pm, offering dine-in and takeaway options, made using high-quality ingredients and traditional techniques.
