The man suspected of pointing a gun at police officer in Broughton on Monday has been arrested
The 32-year-old was detained at around 10pm last night in Whalley Range on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Police have also recovered a gun believed to have been used in the incident.
Two women aged 56 and 33 were also arrested, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The arrests come after an investigation by detectives in Salford and the Force Critical Wanted Unit.
Stop-and-search powers were put in place after the incident in Higher Broughton at around midday on 20 May.
Police had observed a group riding e-bikes dangerously and behaving anti-socially on Great Clowes Street.
As they approached the group, officers tried to detain one of the males.
During the struggle one of the officers spotted a gun which was pointed at an officer by the suspect, who then fled the scene.
The officer deployed his Taser, and additional patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene.
With support from the NPAS helicopter and armed officers, two men – aged 20 and 21 – were detained on North George Street, Salford.
They were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence or to enable another person to do so. Both remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles from our Salford district said: “This was a frightening and totally unacceptable incident that occurred in broad daylight.
“There is no place for guns on our streets and this positive action takes another firearm off the streets, a firearm that could have been used for a criminal purpose.
“We are also looking after the welfare of the officers who were involved in this incident.
“Our officers work tirelessly to keep our communities safe and should never be placed in such danger – not just in Salford but across Greater Manchester.
“This is still a live investigation and would urge anyone who saw the incident or has any information to contact us.
“Anyone else involved in the incident or assisting the suspects will be arrested.
