Luke Wood has signed a new two-year contract with the Red Rose.

The 28-year-old is set to make his return to the side in the Vitality Blast, which starts tomorrow with a home match against Durham, after returning from the Indian Premier League.

Wood has made 71 appearances in First-Class and T20 cricket for the Club since moving to Emirates Old Trafford from Nottinghamshire in 2019, picking up 93 wickets across both formats.

Last season, the left-arm quick was named as Lancashire’s Vitality Blast player of the year following a haul of 18 wickets in 14 matches, including a best of 3 for 11.

Wood’s performances have earned him selection into several of England’s white-ball squads – he has played seven times for his country; twice in ODIs and five times in IT20.

Speaking to LancsTV about his new contract, Luke Wood said: “I’m really happy to have signed a new two-year deal with the Club and, after spending some time away during the winter and at the start of this season, I am really looking forward to getting back to it in the Vitality Blast.

“I am grateful to the Club – and to Mark Chilton – for allowing me to gain some further experiences around the world during the last couple of years, but it is always a great feeling to come back to Emirates Old Trafford, put on the Red Rose and play in front of our Members and supporters.

“Hopefully I can repay the faith they have shown in me during this summer’s Vitality Blast, it will be nice to be a more influential figure in the dressing room and to help to lead some of the younger lads down the right line. We have a strong squad, and we are excited to get going.”
