Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell has pledged today that a Labour Government would strengthen what she describes as the gutted Government online safety bill

Powell, who is the Shadow Culture Secretsry tweeted today

“The impact of Andrew Tate serves as yet another reminder of why we need to act to regulate social media and online, and their business models. That’s why we will act in government after the Government has “gutted” the online safety bill.”

She has vowed to target the algorithms that bombard children with harmful content if party wins power with tough new laws that would protect children from being bombarded

The Government has been accused of weakening, gutting and delaying the bill.”

It has been reported that Members of the Lords are now eyeing further major changes in a bid to strengthen the proposed laws as it passes through Parliament

The Molly Rose Foundation said it welcome this development,

“as Molly’s case demonstrates clearly how legal but harmful content amplified by income-generating algorithms can have fatal consequences for vulnerable people.
