Lucy Letby’s legal team has said they will be asking the Court of Appeal to immediately review all of her convictions because an expert witness “has now changed his mind on the cause of death of three babies”
The defence will seek permission to apply to reopen the appeal and review all Lucy Letby’s convictions, her barrister Mark McDonald KC has announced.
“We have seen no evidence of deliberate harm to these babies by anyone,” says Lucy Letby’s barrister, citing neonatologists Dr. Aiton and Dr. Dimetrova, who state the babies were not “stable,” and their deteriorations are not “unexplained.”
Letby, 34, is serving a whole life sentence in prison for the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of seven others when she worked at the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital after a trial at Manchester Crown Court
