Loganair continued to expand its growing network by today unveiling four new routes from Cornwall Airport Newquay.

The services to Newcastle, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Norwich commence in spring 2020, and will transform connectivity between the South West and the East of England and Scotland.

The package of four routes, for which tickets go on sale today, is detailed as follows:

  • Newquay to Newcastle: Launching on 1 April 2020, with fares from £69.99 one way.

A year-round service of four flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Saturday services will operate from May to September, plus Tuesday and Thursday flights in July and August.

These frequent air services will bring a welcome relief to alternative forms of transport where the fastest daily rail service – with one change and 20 stops – takes 9 hours 38 minutes versus an 85-minute non-stop flight.

  • Newquay to Aberdeen: Launching 1 April 2020, with fares from £74.99 one way.

A year-round service.   Southbound flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will have one stop at Newcastle, and northbound flights on Fridays and Sundays will have one stop at Newcastle.   There will be non-stop services on Saturdays linking Aberdeen and Newquay. There will also be extra flights in each direction on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6 July and 4 September.

The three-hour journey on services via Newcastle or 1 hour 45 minutes on non-stop flights compare favourably to a 14-hour train journey.

  • Newquay to Glasgow: Launching 22 May, with fares from £69.99 one way.

A summer service.  There will be weekly Friday and Saturday flights from May to September with additional services on Tuesdays from late June to late August to cover the important school holiday period.

  • Newquay to Norwich: Launching 3 April, with fares from £59.99 one way.

A summer service. Monday and Friday services operate throughout the summer, with extra Sunday services from May to September and additional Wednesday flights in July and August.  The 80-minute flight contrasts with an 8 hour 30 minute rail or road journey.

oganair Managing Director Jonathan Hinkles said: “We’re excited to be working with Cornwall Airport Newquay and have been working for some time to develop these routes at just the right level. With more and more people holidaying in the UK, avoiding expensive Euro exchange rates or enjoying a staycation with friends and family we’re confident that the routes will do well.

“The growing economic links between Cornwall, the east coast of England and Scotland also mean that we’re confident that business demand will sustain the year-round services.”

Al Titterington, Managing Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay, said: “We welcome Loganair as our newest airline partner at Cornwall Airport Newquay, expanding choice for residents and businesses within our catchment and further enhancing options to fulfil the ever-growing inbound tourism demand. Offering more airline choice and more year-round destinations is key to our strategy and we are delighted that this latest announcement offers both of these.”
