Lancashire have announced the signing of former Worcestershire fast bowler Mitchell Stanley on a one-year contract.

The 22 year old – who is capable of regularly hitting speeds of 90 mph – made his Worcestershire debut against Leicestershire Foxes in the 2022 T20 Blast taking a wicket on debut.

He featured in a further six games for Worcestershire in the 2022 T20 Blast season, finishing with best figures of 2/24 against Birmingham Bears dismissing Alex Davies and Sam Hain.

Last year, Stanley earned a call-up to the Manchester Originals side for the 2022 season of The Hundred as a replacement player for Daniel Worrall and played on three occasions.

He was retained by the Simon Katich’s side for the 2023 edition and has previously been called up by Andy Flower’s Delhi Bulls side in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Mitchell Stanley said: “I’m incredibly honoured and extremely excited to begin a new chapter with Lancashire Cricket, after four years at Worcestershire.

“Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in the country – with a strong squad – and I can’t wait to play at Emirates Old Trafford and call it home.

“It’s a great set up at the Club, which I saw whilst playing for Manchester Originals, so I’m looking forward to working hard and making an impact next season.”

Mark Chilton, Lancashire’s Director of Cricket Performance, added: “Mitchell is someone who is still early in his career, but is an exciting and raw talent who we’re excited to work with and help develop.

“He is a quick fast bowler, who has a great deal of potential and he will add strength in depth to our squad for next season. We look forward to welcoming him to Emirates Old Trafford this winter ahead of the 2024 campaign.”
