Rain arriving at lunch meant just 31 overs were possible at the Emirates Old Trafford on the first day of the County Championship match between Lancashire and Leicestershire.

The visitors won the toss and put Lancashire in on an overcast morning and with a pitch that had a greenish tinge to it.

Lancashire’s openers struggled in conditions favouring the bowlers and both were dismissed cheaply to Holland with  Jones bowled with a ball that came back and Jennings caught by Kimber at slip

Josh Bohannon and Marcus Harris battled to repair the early damage, the former battled for 9 runs off 44 deliveries before being caught brilliantly by the keeper Cox down the leg side in Mike’s first over with the score on 44.

Harris was joined by Hurst who took the sore to 61-3 at lunch before the rain intervened and brought the day to a premature end.
