It’s twenty years since Jimmy Anderson played a full uninterrupted summer for Lancashire but now one of the Best ever International Fast Bowlers is dedicating this season to his home club

Anderson’s retirement from the Test Arena last summer saw him plunge into a coaching role with the England Test team but with those commitments having ended, Anderson plans to spend the summer playing in the four day game and T20 for his home club

He told About Manchester that up to the previous day he was raring to go but a calf problem now mean that he stays out for the first three games of the season

Prior to that he said that his fitness had been as good as it has ever been, his bowling has been good.He says he is yet to have that morning when his body just wasn’t wanting to get up  and get into the routine

James talks about his sudden retirement last year and how it took him some time to decide what he wanted to do.He went straight into the coaching role with England, but as the year continued, Lancashire started to figure in his mind and that he wanted to play back on the County scene

We have such a wide range of ages in the group he says It makes it quite fun, it is a nice place to be

He admits that it is unlikely that he will play every game, in fact that that will almost certainly apply to all the bowlers as the club will have to ration out their appearances throughout the heavy load of the season

It finds it really exciting that for the first time since the famous Ashes summer of 2005 he can throw himself completely into the county season and that he can have a really big impact on and off the field and that his bowling will be of a high enough standard that he can get the team back into Division One following the disappointment of last year’s relegation

Lancashire, he says helped him so much at the start of his career that it will great to give something back and give myself to them for a season or maybe more

As long as I am still hungry to play and still bowling to a high enough standard to get in the team-I will keep going for as long as I can

Has it cost you to do this he is asked rather than follow up on Media opportunities? Money is not a huge focus for me he says I want to be happy and do what I love and fortunately I have been able to do that for 25 years-So I’ll keep doing that and when I get desperate for cash,I”ll go and do some media
