Jet2.com and Jet2holidays waved off its first ever flight to Izmir in Turkey from Manchester Airport today, the first of FOUR new routes that the leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist is celebrating from the base over the next week.

Customers on this morning’s Manchester to Izmir flight were given a special celebration of treats, refreshments, and one lucky customer even won a pair of return Jet2.com flights after finding a lucky envelope on their seat, before departing to the Turkish sunshine.

The full flight marks the start of the leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist operating twice-weekly (Wednesday and Saturday) flights and holidays to the region from Manchester Airport between now and the end of October. Izmir is already proving to be extremely popular with local holidaymakers looking for exceptional weather, great value, and fabulous cuisine with beautiful beaches and the Dilek National Park within easy reach. Flights to Izmir also provide access to popular family friendly resorts on the west coast of Turkey such as Kusadasi, Cesme, Ozdere and Seferihisar making it the perfect blend of sunshine and culture.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will also launch inaugural flights to Bourgas (Bulgaria) on May 6th, marking the start of a programme of four weekly flights (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) between May and the end of September this summer, as holidaymakers look for great value for money as well as miles of golden sands along the Black Sea. With a range of 2-5 star hotels on sale, locals can soak up the Balkan sun in resorts such as Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Obzor and St Vlas.

The third brand new destination to launch is Chania (Crete), the company’s eighth Greek destination on sale from Manchester Airport this Summer. The first flight will depart on May 7th, marking the start of a programme of two weekly flights (Tuesday and Friday) that runs until the end of October. Chania is proving to be extremely popular with local holidaymakers looking to enjoy the northwest coast of Crete, which opens up blue flag beaches and historic sights in resorts such as Rethymnon, Aghia Marina, Chania Town, Kalyves, Stalos and Kolymbari.

The final brand new destination to launch is La Rochelle, with weekly Saturday departures commencing on 25th May. Lined with seafood restaurants, the city is popular with boating and camping enthusiasts. With a well-preserved walled old town at the heart of the city, La Rochelle also provides access via bridge to Il de Re, an Atlantic-coast island of dunes and pine forest – a relaxed destination with beautiful villages, long golden beaches and rural cycle paths.

The launch of the four new routes comes as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays gets its biggest ever summer programme underway from Manchester Airport, with 47 destinations on sale this summer.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “Today marks our very first flight to the sunshine hotspot of Izmir in Turkey from Manchester Airport, and we were delighted to wave off the full flight as it departed to the Turkish sunshine. Our Summer 19 programme from Manchester Airport is our biggest yet, with 47 destinations on sale. With flights and holidays about to commence to three further new routes in La Rochelle, Bourgas and Chania, we really are kicking this summer programme off in style.”

Julian Carr, Aviation Director at Manchester Airport, said: “It’s great to see Jet2.com launch a quartet of new routes from Manchester Airport. It is a clear sign of the airline’s commitment to the North and I am sure the routes will prove popular with our 28.5 million annual passengers.”
