A 25 year old man from Stretford has been jailed for 27 months for a violent attack on a woman that left her with cuts and bruises over her body

Declan Flynn-Barrett of Elm Drive, Stretford, was sentenced for two years and three months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Manchester Crown Court

Police were called to reports of a concern for welfare in Stretford. Flynn-Barrett became violent against the woman, hitting her and leaving her with several cuts and bruises all over her body.

The victim managed to escape the property, but Flynn-Barrett ran after her into the street and tried to assault her again multiple times.

PC Winder, of our Domestic Abuse Team, said: “I would like to thank the victim and their family for coming forward and assisting our investigation. Without their support, we would not have been able to secure today’s sentence.

“Flynn-Barrett was a repeat offender who subjected his victim to a number of abusive acts. He is a dangerous individual who is quite rightly behind bars, away from harming people.

“He put his victim under a sustained attack, kicking her to the stomach and pulling her hair multiple times. His attack continued into the streets and was witnessed by many shocked members of the public.
