A man has been jailed for twice making off from police officer while disqualified from driving – including once when he had children with him

Christopher Marshall aged 39 of Lunn Avenue, Manchester, was earlier this week sentenced to 28 months imprisonment at Manchester Crown Court, after pleading guilty to two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of driving whilst disqualified, and one count of handling stolen goods.

On the first occasion, in December 2023, a local neighbourhood officer spotted Marshall and pulled up behind him, having identified him as having disqualification offences.

Marshall then made off, hitting speeds of 80mph while overtaking traffic, mounting a pavement, and running red lights. The initial pursuit was terminated due to operational circumstances.

Marshall was soon after arrested and charged, before later being bailed by court.

Just over a year later, on 3 January 2025, Marshall was again stopped by a proactive patrol, but once again made off. He did so with two young children in the car.

He mounted a kerb and clipped a member of the public’s car, while also causing an officer to slam their brakes on to avoid being hit.

Due to the children on-board, officers chose not to pursue – with Marshall being arrested again two days later.

He subsequently later plead guilty to his offences ahead of sentencing.
