INNSiDE Manchester has announced the launch of a new exhibition with renowned Manchester gallery Comme Ca Art, part of an ongoing collaboration to showcase work from contemporary local artists.

The new free exhibition, dubbed Come See Comme Ca, will launch at the First Street hotel on Wednesday the 16th of February 2022, and will be open to both hotel guests and visitors.

Comme Ca Art is an internationally recognised agency that pioneered the creation of alternative exhibition venues throughout Manchester City Centre, offering up-and-coming artists the opportunity to showcase their works to a wide and varied audience. The collaboration is in keeping with INNSiDE by Meliá’s philosophy ‘Stay Curious’, which promises to accommodate guests’ every need with considered comforts and inspired experiences.

The communal areas outside the events space at INNSiDE Manchester, will be transformed into the Come See Comme Ca exhibition, displaying artworks from four local artists: Carl Camera, Big H, Phil Constable, and Rebecca Davy, each presenting their latest works.

Carl Camera’s love of calligraphy, mixed with his street art style of painting is executed perfectly on the canvas surface, while his unapologetic use of vivid fuchsia and bright yellow colours only adds to the beauty of his calligraphy craftsmanship.

Big H is influenced by artists such as Andy Warhol and Banksy. BIG H’s art is mainly a mixture of graffiti and pop art with popular culture often his subject matter and his art often satirising current issues in society such as celebrity culture, power, and commercialism.

Artist and printmaker Phil Constable works by layering images via screen print, utilising half-tone photography, symbols and mark making with gold and silver gilding on various surfaces including paper, board, and glass.

And Rebecca Davy, who is particularly attracted to painting the colourful, the ephemeral and the kitsch, constructing paintings with a strong element of light and colour that satisfies both the subject and its medium.

“The concept behind Manchester-based Comme Ca Art is to highlight exceptional artists who reside in the city, and INNSiDE by Melia is the perfect partner.” says gallery director Claire Turner, who believes the contemporary exhibits fit naturally with the hotel’s aesthetic.

“February is the month of Love so for our latest exhibition at INNSiDE by Meliá Manchester we have brought together four artists who interpret Love within their subject matter.”

“Each artist has their own unique style, from graffiti to photorealism with lush red roses and heartfelt messages within the works. The perfect gift for your very own loved one.”

The next round of artworks will be on display at Come See Comme Ca, INNSiDE Manchester, First Street, from 16th February to 11th April 2022.
