The Office for National Statistics reports that consumer prices in Britain rose by 1.7% in February, compared to a year before, down from 1.8% a month ago.

The fall says the ONS is due to decreases in the price of petrol, games, and toys and hobbies month inflation rate between January and February 2020.

There were price rises for recording media, and restaurant and hotel services.

This week the supermarket chains Morrisons and Asda have both slashed prices by 12 pence per litre
