Being the victim of a break-in is never a pleasant experience. It can leave you feeling violated, unsafe and anxious. Making sure your space is properly secured again immediately after you’ve been broken into should be your number one priority to make you feel safer and to avoid any further break-ins. We’ve put together a list of things to do to resecure your office so that you can focus on yourself and your staff after your ordeal, check them out below.
Install An Alarm System
Having an alarm system will give you peace of mind every time you leave your building. Buy the best system you can afford and opt-in for a keyholder service. This means that if you do suffer another break your alarm company can act as a security service and attend your premises to check for any intruders or damage without you having to attend as the first on-site. If you have offices across England, Key Control Services are based in Bolton but cover the entire country.
Add Cameras
Invest in some good quality camera or CCTV equipment to monitor the outside of your premises and keep it secure. Cover every angle that could be an entryway, including windows. This will hopefully deter any potential burglars or intruders from attempting to enter the offices and if someone does manage to break in you will at least have the evidence on camera.
Change Your Locks
You must change your locks after a break-in. Even if your intruders didn’t use a key to get in, they may have obtained one from your offices once they were inside. Upgrade your lock system by using two locking factors to get into the property, such as a key and also a fob system.
Add More Security In The Building
If you have internal doors, consider adding key cards or a fob system in between each area, so that if someone does manage to get into the front of the building, they will not be able to travel between areas or rooms. This is particularly important if you have a storage room with expensive products and items inside.
Up The Internal Security Measures
Install some heavy-duty filing cabinets for paperwork or large safes for extra prized items. ensure that your staff clear down their desk fully each day and lock away any important, sensitive, or valuable information. Provide your employees with ID badges and ask them to check in and out each day so that you can track who has been inside the building. Ensure any visitors are properly signed in and out and monitored at all times so no one is allowed to wander around your office unattended.
Make sure that all staff lock their computer each night and change their password to something that is difficult to decipher. The more layers of protection you have inside the building, the less an intruder will be able to benefit from if they do get inside your office again.
