Our love of dogs within our own homes and lives is not a one-way street and our dogs love us being there and interacting with us just as much as we do. The depth of a dog’s love for its owner can be boundless, never short of time or willingness to convey that love with attention and the addictive want to play and have fun with their master.

This is all well and good, but we all need to carry on with our daily lives as well. So finding easy ways to keep your dog amused while you get on with life can sometimes be tricky. Here are some ways that can prove successful in keeping your dog happy and content while you are busy.

Music

Dogs actually love music, a recent experiment by online casino site Betway illustrates this while hinting at the styles of music we may find work best at keeping our own dogs amused. The results of the experiment show slower styles of music are best for our dogs, with the most relaxing form being awarded to folk music. Next time you are finding yourself at odds with your dog’s needs for play and attention over your own requirements to work and deal with mundane tasks, try playing a little Folk music and see if you achieve the same results. The research showed that although folk music was a clear winner, classical and jazz music also has the ability to calm your dog. Heavy metal music fared less well and this may simply be down to the harsher sounds and faster beat of its own makeup. Try different styles until you find one that your own dog loves.

Television

TV shows were also shown to have a marked effect on dogs during the experiment. Period drama, Bridgerton proved a winner in bringing calm. Surprisingly the cartoon Rick and Morty also scored well, so it seems a wide variety of programmes may have the desired effect. One show that the research showed as being much less effective was Pup Academy. The show heavily features dogs themselves and it may be this fact that makes it less effective in providing the amusement we seek for our favourite pets. Of course, each dog is different, so letting them loose on a few different styles of show and assessing which gives the best experience for your pet is very worthwhile.

Creature Comforts

There is no denying it – dogs love to snooze! However, they also love to snooze in comfort. Giving them a space where they can relax in at home and feel safe in means that they’ll be happy and content. Their own blankets really help too. Of course, as well as somewhere to relax, a space to play and burn off energy is a good thing too. Some toys that they can play with, frozen dog treats and things like licky mats all help with keeping them mentally stimulated; which is as important for their well-being as taking them out for a walk every day.

Leaving The House

If you want a dog to be amused and relaxed when you leave the house then tiring them out before you go is a must. Taking them for a walk will mean that they are much more able to switch off when they get home; and this means that they’ll be able to amuse themselves for a few hours while you go out of the house and get any jobs done that you need to do – meaning that everyone is happy!
