Staycation seekers are searching out destinations closer to home, as Jersey reports a surge in traveller interest.
Shortly after the island announced the re-opening of its borders to the UK and Crown Dependencies on 26 April, the Visit Jersey website experienced a surge in traffic across the Easter bank holiday weekend – a 48% uplift in UK traffic exploring what the island has to offer, including its remote beaches, country lanes and fresh air; with plenty of space to socially distance.
With international travel restrictions in flux, flight providers are also responding to the increased interest in Jersey. Last week, British Airways announced the launch of a new route to Jersey from London City Airport, operating over the summer period from 25 June, 2021 on Mondays and Fridays.
Jersey’s hotels, restaurants and attractions are also swiftly drawing up plans for a busy season.

As part of the Common Travel Area, Jersey is not included in the UK international travel ban and visitors do not need to complete the UK Government Travel Declaration Form ahead of their travels to the island. With UK holiday makers rushing to get a last-minute booking in mainland UK, Jersey offers an alternative to explore with over 30 beaches.
An island shaped by the sea, Jersey has plenty of space to sunbathe with 12 miles of secluded, spacious sandy beaches and uninterrupted coastal paths. According to the latest Met Weather data, Jersey also holds the title of sunniest spot in the British Isles.

As part of the island’s preparations for reducing the risk of COVID-19 and keeping all visitors and locals safe, the Government of Jersey has re-introduced the Safer Travel Guidance which includes its red, amber and green regional classifications for the UK and the other Crown Dependencies from Monday 26 April. The classifications will dictate the amount of time a visitor will need to isolate. All arriving visitors will need to have a PCR test prior to arrival or will be required to complete a pre-departure registration form and will be tested on arrival.
