Heavy rain is hitting the region at the moment with the Met Office having put out a yellow warning for rain covering the whole of the region until around 8.00pm this evening

The weather has been causing problems on the region’s road network

In Levenshulme two people had to be rescued from their vehicle in the floodwater on Crossley Road this morning.

The North West Environmental Agency issued the following warning on twitter

It’s wet and miserable day in the NW, with heavy rain set to continue into the evening especially around Greater Manchester.

❌ Don’t drive through floodwater – just 30cm can move your car!

The M60 at j18 anti clockwise slip road at Simister towards j17 is closed due to flooding and A6042 Trinity Way, Salford at Chapel St saw queues where a stranded vehicle in flood water was blocking two lanes with congestion onto Irwell St and New Quay St.

ALSO nearby East Ordsall Lane is also under water causing slow traffic both ways in the usual place by the railway arches.

Earlier this morning, on the M60  anticlockwise carriageway, one lane is closed off from junction 25 for Brinnington to junction 24 for Denton due to flooding while there are also problems on the M56 Sharston link with traffic queuing back to Junction 6 heading into Manchester.

Earlier problems on the A6 Broad St at Frederick Rd, Salford caused by the roadworks temp lights stuck on so looks they have been switched off for now to allow heavy congestion especially heading into Manchester to ease

Transport for Greater Manchester earlier issued a warning saying that the rain will lead to a risk of disruption to the transport network to allow extra travel time and take care when travelling
