Calling all local Pink Ladies and T-Birds! Manchester’s over 55s are invited to a fun, free Grease-themed dance class at St. Matthew’s Community Hall, Crumpsall on Thursday 18th November.

Inspired by the popular rock ’n’ roll film, the free dance class takes place at 2-4pm and is part of First Time for Everything, a programme designed by Royal Voluntary Service and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The programme gives people an opportunity to try something new for free in their local community. Staying active and social have been proven to be important to keeping fit and well as we age.

Holly Rostron from Aurora Dance Fitness will lead the free class, with participants learning popular moves from the movie, including the iconic hand-jive. No dance experience is required and the class is fully accessible to all. Free light refreshments will be available afterwards.

According to new research by Royal Voluntary Service and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, more than half of people responding aged 55 and over are looking forward to seeing people and being social now that COVID-19 restrictions have eased. One in eight are keen to try something new.

Laura Chow, Head of Charities, People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “First Time for Everything activities are a safe, gentle and enjoyable way to boost physical and mental health and wellbeing, particularly for those that are older or less mobile. Thanks to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery, local people can look forward to some great sessions.”
