Communities Secretary Greg Clark is visiting Manchester this morning where he will launch a new £26 million fund for the Government’s Starter Homes initiative.

Clark will be visiting the Point in New Islington and Louisa Street in Openshaw housing developments to see how developers in the city are using innovative designs to build properties that people want.

The fund, says the Government, will pave the way for the first wave of Starter Homes that will demonstrate to young first-time buyers the different types of properties they can come to expect from the Government’s flagship scheme.

The Government has pledged to build 200,000 Starter Homes across the country by 2020. They will be offered exclusively to first-time buyers aged under 40 with a discount of 20% on market values
