The UK will definitely be taking part in the European elections later this month despite the Government’s insistence previously that we would not.

The Government now wants us to leave by the 2nd July before newly elected MP’s take their seats in Strasbourg.

In a statement made by Deputy Prime Minister David Lidington said that there was simply not enough time for an agreement to be passed before the 22nd May but also suggested that the deal might not be done before the Parliamentary summer recess.

As talks resumed between Labour and Conservatives the Shadow Brexit Minister Kier Starmer told journalists as he arrived at the Cabinet Office for this afternoon’s negotiating session that this was “crunch time”.

“Talks have been going on for some time as we know, but I think the time has now come to a crunch time where the government has to decide whether it’s serious about significant changes capable of actually carrying a majority in the House of Commons.”
