A full planning application has been submitted to Manchester City Council for the new integrated health and community hub planned for Gorton.

The ambition is to bring together a partnership of public sector organisations to provide a one-stop-shop for a range of services that are currently delivered in different locations. This will include Manchester City Council, health and social care partners, and housing and community service provider, One Manchester.

This will allow the current Gorton library to move from its current site close-by to the new improved facility. The existing library will remain open until the hub is completed to ensure a seamless transition.

Integrating services under one roof makes accessing different support networks much easier for local people and helps to maximise collaborative space within the new hub.

The demolition of the vacant properties on Garratt Way (formerly Eastland Homes offices and a former pub) has already taken place to ready the site for development.

Start on site is expected late 2019 and completion is expected in Spring 2021.

Morgan Sindall has been appointed to the project as key contractor.

IBI have acted as architects on the project along with Curtins who have acted as engineering consultant.
