Freight Island is delighted to announce its festival-inspired programming for this Spring with a series of free to attend events featuring a stellar line-up of Manchester’s local artists and more, from the best of dance music world.

On the Sunday Bank Holiday, on 28th May, Freight Island will welcome the much-celebrated É Soul Cultura for an all-day-to-night festival, hosted and curated by none other than Luke Una where he will be joined by a huge crew of party people including Artwork, Greg Wilson, DJ Paulette, Colin Curtis and much more. Full on Bank Holiday actions this early Spring, Sunday 30th April will be an epic Sound Clash between Nossa! and Bombard Groove for a full on riddim takeover. And Sunday 7th May will welcome Stells Selections for a dance-infused hip hop, afrobeat, funk beats, disco and many more styles.

Much more than a food hall, Freight Island is an all-day festival and will welcome a host of local brands and collectives for Saturday takeover in the beautiful and sun-kissed Plant Room throughout the Spring. Saturdays in the Plant Room will welcome the likes of Bombard Groove, Nossa!, Stells Selections, Supernature Disco, Sticky Heat, Room 90, Steam Radio and more to be announced.

Happening inside the striking Depot Mayfield, the stage will be home to Freight Island’s resident DJs and Manchester’s finest selectors. Joining the line-up this Spring are Danny Ward (Dubble D/Moodymanc), The Colonel, Ralph Ninety, Abigail Ward and more. Plus, performances from Mr Wilsons Second Liners and other incredible walkabout entertainment.

Introducing new weekly nights at Freight Island this Spring, every Friday guests will be soundtracked by The Soul of Hip Hop with the likes of DJ Rasp and rotating warm up DJs including Tommy P-Nuts, Swindells, Jim Bane and more. Saturday nights are all about keeping the groove and beats going with the best of disco, boogie and street soul featuring the likes of Ruby Swallow, Rick Donohue, Lil’ Minx, Rev Austin, The Colonel, Jamaste DJ and more.

With warmer and longer days finally approaching, the Spring programming at Freight Island are sure to get everyone in a festival mood ahead of the season. Further summer and huge Festival headline programming at Freight Island will be announced soon.

Also happening at Freight Island are monthly pop-up markets. The much-loved independent Rare Finds Flea Market curates a Late Night Bazar every first Thursday of the month featuring fashion and lifestyle brands, as well as a daytime family market every last Sunday of the month. For those in creative flows, Cork&Canvas and Cork&Clay continue to host a series of fun and exciting workshops in the Plant Room.

On the calendar this Spring, Freight Island will also host a huge Eurovision Karaoke alongside the launch of The Big Brunch who will host a series of bottomless brunches throughout this Spring all to be announced soon.
