Five people have died after a small migrant boat got into difficulties off Boulogne in the early hours today.

Others were rescued from the freezing waters.

Meanwhile, two other small boats reached UK waters and at least 100 people were taken to Dover harbour early this morning.

The migrants were trying to reach a small boat setting off from the beach in the northern French town of Wimereux

Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron said the “heartbreaking” deaths of four migrants as they tried to cross the English Channel showed “we’ve got to stop the boats”.
