Firefighters in Cheshire have been battling through the night to tackle a fire at Tilstone House, near Tarporley.

Fire crews arrived around 8.30 yesterday evening to find the fire at the large 19th century timber frame mansion was well alight and that the fire had spread to all three floors of the building.

Firefighters are also undertaking salvage operation to help recovery any furniture where possible.

Built by Lord and Lady Daresbury in 1888, the luxurious residence was originally used as a hunting and shooting lodge, it is now used as a wedding venue.
