The Government is set to announce that face coverings will have to be worn in shops and supermarkets from the 24th July.

Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary, will confirm that Government guidance is being updated to make the wearing of face coverings in shops and supermarkets in England compulsory in a statement today.

Retailers will be asked to advise customers to wear masks but their staff will not be expected to enforce the law.
Instead, police will be given powers to dish out fines.

As with public transport young children or those with certain disabilities will be exempt from the new regulations
