Services on the Eccles line are currently suspended due to a fire near to the Anchorage tram stop.

A section of cable has been isolated and a specialist repair team is working with other staff that are at the scene to assess and repair the damage as quickly as possible.

Services from Ashton are continuing to run to Deansgate-Castlefield. All passengers who were on trams on the Eccles line have been de-trained.

A number of bespoke buses are in place and calling at all stops between Cornbrook and Eccles. In addition, tickets are being accepted on commercial bus services and Northern train services to/from Eccles.

Customers are being updated via the website, social media channels, on-stop information and displays and by driver announcements.

There are currently no timescales for when services might resume.

A TfGM spokesperson said: “We are working closely with the operator to assess and repair the damage as soon as possible.

“We are utilising all our channels to keep customers updated and I’d encourage anyone planning to travel on the Eccles line to check for the latest updates and information before they travel.”
