A Panorama programme going out tonight on BBC1 will report that a Denton school has been forced to close numerous times due to flooding and sewage problems

The programme will say that at Russell Scott Primary School in Denton, every time it rains, teaching staff are forced to use sandbags to keep the water at bay.

Five years after a disastrous refurbishment, Russell Scott Primary School in Denton, Greater Manchester, is unfit for kids

Pupils were promised a new school in 2022, but Panorama reveals that they are still waiting, forced to learn in appalling conditions

Back in 2021 Head Steve Marsland told the Daily Mirror that: “For five years since the construction finished, some of the kids have been through their whole school life having never been on the grass

He added:

“We’re in a built-up area next to a motorway and shopping centre, so our kids come to school almost Lowry-esque. This is the only green space in the area but now there is no grass for them to play on.

“People who see it are absolutely flabbergasted. It’s like a war zone. The clowns who have done the construction work have made it a place not fit for children. The year after the work finished our attendance went down from 95% to 60% due to illness from sewage fumes.

“The sewage flooded into our bathrooms and our youngest children were actually sat in it.
