The prevalence of COVID-19 infections in England has fallen sharply for a third straight week.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed the estimated proportion of people infected at its lowest level since early September.

In England, they estimate that 54,200 people within the community population in England had COVID-19 equating to around 1 in 1,010 people.

In Wales,1,900 people in Wales had COVID-19 equating to around 1 in 1,570 people,In Northern Ireland, 1,900 people equating to around 1 in 940 people and in Scotland,8,200 people equating to around 1 in 640 people.

During the week ending 24 April 2021, the highest percentage of people testing positive was observed in Yorkshire and The Humber, although rates were low in all regions with South-west England having the lowest estimate at around one in 2,980
