An election could be imminent before Christmas after a meeting between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn earlier today.

The two met before Prime Minister’s Questions to discuss a new programme motion for the withdrawal agreement bill.

The two did not reach an agreement but talks will continue.

In the meantime, Jeremy Corbyn restated that Labour will support a general election when the threat of a no deal crash out is off the table’.  No. 10 has said that, with MPs having delayed the passage of the withdrawal agreement bill, the government will push for a general election if the EU approves a three-month Brexit extension.

Donald Tusk and Boris Johnson spoke today about a Brexit extension. Boris ‘set out that he continues to believe there should be no extension’ while Tusk explained why he’s recommending that the EU27 approve a delay.

European ambassadors are meeting today to discuss the matter.
