A businessman who gave the Conservatives £5m has been given a Knighthood

In a series of honours published just before the Easter break Mohamed Mansour Mansour, a Tory Party treasurer and a former minister to Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak was included in the honours list for “Business, Charity and Political Service”.

His firm recently paid a seven-figure settlement after being investigated by HMRC.

Four Tory MP’s were also included in the honours list including Ester McVey’s husband, Philip Davies and Government Minister Mark Spencer

Labour Party chairwoman Anneliese Dodds said:

“This is either the arrogant act of an entitled man who’s stopped caring what the public thinks, or the demob-happy self-indulgence of someone who doesn’t expect to be prime minister much longer.

“Either way, it shows a blatant disrespect for the office he should feel privileged to hold.”
