As the big supermarkets face their biggest challenge for many years, ASDA has rolled out its new click and collect services across twelve Greater Manchester stores.

The new service allows customers to pick up their shopping without going to the effort of pushing a trolley round the store, having made the order online and then arrange a two-hour slot to collect it.

When they arrive at a store, customers will be given an order number, and their shopping will be brought out within five minutes.

Bosses say the service is already proving popular and, along with online deliveries, is seen as the future of shopping.

Saeed Anslow, development director, e-Commerce at Asda, said:

“Customers always tell us they want are ways to make shopping more convenient. For some, that means having the flexibility to collect their shopping as quickly as possible, at a time that suits them when they are out and about. The launch of our same day Click and Collect service makes shopping with us easier than ever– meaning Asda customers can fit their shopping in between work, chauffeuring the kids around and the hundreds of other jobs they need to get done in a day.”

The store involved are at Ashton; Manchester Eastlands; Harpurhey; Horwich; Hulme; Hyde; Pilsworth; Radcliffe; Shaw; Stockport; Swinton and Trafford Park;
