CHEC (Community Health and Eyecare) has signed up to take all of the available ground-floor space (6,500 sq ft) at 2 Stockport Exchange, for its latest treatment centre, with the development now 90% occupied.

Founded in 2012, CHEC has worked in partnership with thousands of optometrists and the NHS to deliver patient-focused, high-quality eyecare. CHEC is one of the largest providers of community-based ophthalmology services in the UK, providing treatments for conditions such as Glaucoma and Cataracts in the UK, with 17 branches nationwide. In 2022, CHEC also commenced diagnostic endoscopy services and this new state of the art treatment centre will provide both Ophthalmology and Endoscopy services.

The stunning six-storey building completed back in 2021 is already home to BASF, law firm, O’Neil Patient and multi-let industrial property company Industrials REIT.

Stockport Council and Muse are on site with the latest phase of regeneration, delivering a further 64,000 sq ft of first-class office space, together with a 399-space multi-storey tenant car park. Including, 24 EV charging points and solar panels, will increase the sustainability and energy requirements of the car park.

The wider £145m Stockport Exchange business district, is being created by Stockport Council and Muse and sits as a key catalyst of the £500m Town Centre West regeneration, delivered by its visionary Mayoral Development Corporation. The 130-acre site will feature 4,000 good quality homes, office space and major transport and infrastructure improvements, alongside a range of town centre amenities that will benefit the community.

Cllr Colin MacAlister, cabinet member for economy and regeneration at Stockport Council, said: “Stockport Exchange continues to be hugely popular, due to its prime location and high specification. Attracting high quality businesses to the town centre who can take advantage of everything it has to offer, like the new transport interchange, improvements to Merseyway and the Underbanks, is a key priority. We’ve certainly raised our profile with our growing business community and I wish CHEC well in their new location and look forward to welcoming them to Stockport.”

Tom Webber, senior development surveyor at Muse, said: “To welcome yet another fantastic occupier in CHEC to Stockport Exchange shows that we’ve got real momentum here. Our vision with the council has been to create one of the most-connected business destinations in the region that benefits both the town and the community, and together we’re delivering that vision.

“What we’re creating is a catalyst for wider regeneration in the town, which is creating a brighter future for Stockport. We’re proud to continue playing a part in the town’s future success through the Mayoral Development Corporation.”

The wider Stockport Exchange development will deliver up to 375,000 sq ft of office space and 28,000 sq ft of commercial retail and leisure floor space.
