The Chancellor Rachel Reeves visited Manchester today where she launched £500 million fund for projects supporting the most vulnerable children.

Reeves told the media that the scheme was ‘about having an impact today – but we also know that the benefits will be felt for years to come.’

Earlier the Chief Secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones said says it will give young people ‘tools to get out of structural poverty.’

Quizzed on tax rises Reeves said she will not ‘speculate’ on the contents of the budget, but adds Labour ‘won’t increase taxes that working people pay’

Reeves choose Westleigh Methodist Primary School to launch the fund which will support up to 200,000 children and their families over the next 10 years by bringing together Government, local communities, charities, social enterprises, investors and philanthropists to give children a better future.
