REIGNING Premiership Champions Belle Vue remain seven points clear at the top of the Sports Insure Premiership following an emphatic 41-49 win against Peterborough on Monday.
The ATPI Aces lived up to their fabled reputation at the East of England Arena and, in front of the Eurosport cameras, put in another strong display worthy of their status.
The night began as it has so many times before at the home of the Panthers, with Dan Bewley and Tom Brennan teaming up in heat 1 and laying the foundations for the rest of the night.
But desperate to put on a good show on home shale, Peterborough reserves Hans Andersen and Jordan Jenkins responded with a 4-2 in Heat 2 to reduce the ATPI Aces’ early lead.
Jenkins then combined forces with Vadim Tarasenko gave hope to the home side in Heat 4 with a 5-1 that put the Panthers to within a whisker of the reigning champions.
True to form, however, Belle Vue were quick to recover and set about putting as much fresh air between themselves and their opponents as they possibly could.
And even without Norick Blodorn, who was ruled out of the meeting early Monday morning after crashing in Poland, the ATPI Aces went from strength to strength to secure their latest away win.
Dan Bewley topped the charts for the Aces with 12+1 while Jaimon Lidsey complimented him with 10 of his own and Tom Brennan added an impressive 7+2.
Bewley said: “I think all of us were very happy to come here, we all love this track but we in no way underestimated the Panthers especially now they’ve made some changes.
“I think that showed in how they raced, they’ve got some good riders who gave us a good run at Belle Vue last week and here on home shale we expected more of the same.
“Peterborough is very similar to Belle Vue in its size but the material is very different, but it just feels like every time we come here we’re very comfortable with how it rides.
“This is another big result for us. Meetings will soon start to run out in the race for the Play Offs and we need to give ourselves the best chance possible of defending our title.”
The ATPI Aces pairing of Dan Bewley and Brady Kurtz, along with Rising Star Jake Mulford, lock horns with the best in the Premiership on Thursday, June 29 in the 2023 Premiership Pairs at Leicester.
