Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with Google Arts & Cultureto create an online experience to celebrate the culture of Manchester.

The project highlights Manchester’s unique contribution to musical history, its rich tradition of craft and design from the industrial revolution to the modern day and the strength of the links between businesses and their local communities.

A range of shops, manufacturers and music venues have been selected in recognition of the unique contribution they have made to the culture of Greater Manchester.

Chris Fletcher, Policy, Campaigns and Communications Director at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re delighted to be able to celebrate some of the great businesses that we have in our area. They range from long-established family businesses which have been passed down the generations to iconic music venues that are a vital part of Manchester’s world-famous music history.

“In these difficult times, it’s crucial that we support our local businesses. Many of those that we feature have had to adapt to new restrictions, find new markets and devise new ways of communicating with their customers and each one continues to play a major part in the business and cultural life of Greater Manchester.”

The following businesses are featured in the Google Arts & Culture project:

  • Afflecks
  • Band on the Wall
  • Classic Football Shirts
  • Factory
  • Forsyth’s Music Shop

  • Manchester Craft & Design Centre
