National pharmacy chain, Well, has joined forces with The University of Manchester to sponsor its Pharmacy School’s football team.
Well, whose HQ is in Castlefield, has provided a brand new set of shirts for the team’s 2016/17 season as part of the partnership, which started at the beginning of October.

The team, made up of pharmacy students in their first year at university right through to students in their fourth year, will be playing other teams who also study at the University of Manchester every Wednesday until May 2017.

So far, Well has donated over £250 to the football team who play their home fixtures at the Armitage Sports Centre in Fallowfield.

Ben Turner, Head of Learning, Resourcing and Talent at Well, said: “The whole team is passionate about engaging with the local community and there is no better team to partner with than the Pharmacy School’s football team at the University of Manchester.

“At Well, we are keen to support the next generation of pharmacists and we look forward to seeing how successful the students are on and off the pitch.”

Ryan McCullough, a pharmacy student at the University of Manchester, commented: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Well for sponsoring our football team, it’s great to see a local business support us in this way. We are indebted to them for their support and interest in the Pharmacy School.”

Every January, Well recruits a number of students onto its pre-registration programme which provides teaching and support for trainee pharmacists, as well as helping them gain hands on experience and access to industry experts.
