Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to an attack on a woman on a canal path in Rochdale earlier this week.
Stephen David Hastie 32, is wanted in connection with an attempted rape that is believed to have occurred on the Rochdale canal towpath on the evening of Monday 6 January.
A woman in her 50s was assaulted by a man armed with a knife whilst walking her dog along the canal.
Police have since established that the man is believed to have attempted to rape the woman.
The man was initially detained by a group of men that were walking nearby but he managed to flee.
The woman suffered minor injuries and is continuing to be supported by officers.
