A poll conducted two weeks after the Gorton and Denton by election claims that Andy Burnham would have won the seat if he had been allowed to stand
Nearly three in ten Green voters would have switched to Andy Burnham if he had stood as would fourteen per cent of Reform voters while another third said they were unsure how to vote if he had stood
The poll by Survation and published in the New Statesman also said that more than half the voters decided in the final two weeks of the campaign
Labour’s vote was split down the middle between staying for their candidate Stogia or going Green while Asian voters voted overwhelmingly for the Green candidate
The poll appears to show that Reform’s vote was settled with most of their voters knowing their preference long in advance.
The polling though reveals sharp demographic divides.While Reform topped the poll among White Voters, Asian voters moved to the Greens
Most progressive voters meanwhile were still debating who to go for with two weeks splitting the Labour vote with the Greens
Few national stories impacted on voters but among Asian voters Labour’s immigration policy attracted more attention than that of Reform
